Sid just turned 3 on 11/10 and he's enrolled into an integrated pre-school due his speech & language issues. First off, you're an amazing mom and you didn't miss anything and you didn't do anything wrong and Marty is still the brilliant amazing little boy that you know him to be and once you give him language skills, he will amaze you with his speech! It's a process! My son only said boobies, pizza and football as well as daddy sometimes; his daycare said he was the all american boy! I yearned to hear him call me mommy, I ached for it. He really had no more the 7 words and was 2 1/2 when we had him evaluated. We received the same package you did and I cried and cried. Also, we had a hearing evaluation conducted and my son has low frequencybhearing loss on a moderate to severe level, who knew? He listens so well, passed his newborn screening and seems to be aware of his surroundings but nonetheless it's always important to check hearing too.

I don't know if Texas offers Early Intervention services, but they're a service that our state (NJ) runs for developmental disabilities to provide speech, OT, PT, etc. in your home. Sid got two hours a week of Speech and an hour of OT in our home. Then we went go and still go a private speech therapist 2x a week. He talks so much that when we had him evaluated for school, although on the low end, he didn't qualify for private speech services (but he needs PT and OT).

There's a lot of resources typically at a state level, but I'm not sure about Texas. However as one mom to another, I get this and I'm here to say as big of a blow as this is, Marty will astound you once you start the speech therapy. Best of luck to you guys! Babies are hard, but he wouldn't have been given you as a mama if you weren't meant to tackle this feat. Positive juju to you from a stranger :) Kaysie https://www.blogger.com/profile/12075514605943952553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6900174036002107872.post-17788107534451477022013-10-10T16:32:04.982-07:002013-10-10T16:32:04.982-07:00Unsettling news beautifully expressed.
